Hi everyone, welcome to the first adventure post on Allie Explores… YAY!! I plan on sharing with you the spontaneous adventure I took last Sunday to San Francisco with my friend from high school, Betsy. Now I have to give you some back story: every time I hangout with Betsy I swear we end up on some sort of spontaneous adventure. The only two rebellious stories I have from high school (because I was the polar opposite of a rebel and still am HA) involve Betsy because she was not afraid to go on an adventure. I guess I will share one story where I was able to find a badly edited photo from the night. Well… sorry mom (I know you read this) cat is coming out of the bag on this one. One summer night at like 10:45, Betsy texted me to hangout with her and two of our other friends and we ended up going to the San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf at 11 at night.
It was not the smartest idea, but we were fine and nothing bad happened; it’s an adventure I will always remember because it was pretty much the most spontaneous and risky thing I had ever done in my teenage years.
OK, now back to 2016!
So Sunday I caught up with Betsy and we drove into the city to explore Haight Ashbury and the Hayes because I’m lame and even though I have lived in the Bay Area my entire life, I had never been there. This adventure worked out perfectly because Betsy wanted to buy records and we walked into two pretty cool record stores in the city. YAY for new experiences! Honestly I’m always down for a new adventure provided I’m not exhausted, but I mean that’s a given; most people wouldn’t go on a spontaneous adventure when they are extremely tired.
I found a cool Rolling Stones fireplace at a burger place where I got pizza instead (REBEL), saw amazing architecture and the design loving nerd in me was in awe over the beautiful houses. It made me wish I had the ability to live in a cool building similar to that at some point in my life. I saw the Full House area of San Fran, which was pretty cool since Fuller House is coming out soon! Full House will always have a special place in my heart since it was always on after school as well as during one of the hardest times in my life because it was something happy to focus on.
I had a nice time catching up with Betsy. We talked about adulting and the oh so joyous events it brings (SARCASM so much sarcasm if you didn’t pick that up). We talked about cameras as she has a fairly new camera too and I wanted to practice my photography skills along with the usual catching up friends do after quite a bit of time has passed since last seeing each other. I have to say, after all of this, I’m really a fan of spontaneous adventures. The spontaneity does a good job of taking me out of the droning of everyday life and remind me of the things I do enjoy. I don’t have much room in my life for spontaneity, but when it does happen to work out this time, it lead to a small little window of time that I enjoyed and it gave me the opportunity to do something besides watch YouTube videos or Netflix (I mean, am I right?). So I ask you when was the last time you had a spontaneous adventure?
Oh and P.S. I just finally created a Facebook page!! Yay I’ll leave the link here in case you are interested in liking and following a long, I plan on posting extra things on there and sharing some other great blog posts I think you should check out.
