As I have mentioned before in my post about why I am excited for fall, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love so many things about Halloween but one of the things I love the most is the lead up to the holiday (basically the entire month of October). Getting pumpkins, planning costumes, putting up decorations, and watching Halloween films, all of it just gets me in the Halloween spirit! There is something special about it. Halloween has been one of my favorite holidays ever since I can remember. I believe this is because my parents also love this holiday as much as I do. Growing up Halloween/the month of October was spent with family picking out pumpkins, planning costumes, making a tradition of watching the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every year, trick or treating, and watching my dad carve the pumpkins. Every year mind you! I didn’t get to carve my own pumpkin until last year (21 years old people), when I finally carved my first pumpkin myself! Halloween holds a special place in my heart because my whole family loves it just as much as I do so it’s special to continue these little seasonal traditions.
So last Sunday my best friend Robyn and her boyfriend, Gaton, Sean and I went to a local pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins. It was slightly awkward just because there were so many families with their children there, felt a little out of place but I didn’t want to pick the pumpkins at Safeway, that totally is not Halloweeny! Regardless we had a fun time picking out pumpkins and getting to spend time with great friends!
After getting back from that, I was totally thriving off of Halloween excitement and decided to take over and decorate my parent’s front yard. Sean helped me put up the fake spider web. I then decided I wanted to decorate my two mini white pumpkins with glitter, but I couldn’t do this until Monday because I didn’t have any glitter. I’ll post a finished product photo below. I made quite a mess with the glitter, but that is why we do these things outside!
I have more Halloween preparation plans, like watching Hocus Pocus and the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I also want to bake some cupcakes that are decorated in a Halloween theme. Not sure when or if that will happen, but if it does I’ll do a post about it. I hope you are all enjoying preparing for Halloween, I’m just bubbling with excitement for everything Halloween themed even though I don’t have any plans for the actual day yet… oops! What’s your favorite part of the Halloween season?
