At an early age my grandpa George instilled in me a craving for adventure. He used to take me to the local private airport where we would watch old-fashioned planes take off and he would tell me about his previous travels. These trips garnered my incredibly strong desire to travel and explore the world so I may feel the way I did on those little trips to the private airport.
As I have mentioned before, I recently graduated college this past May. When I celebrated my birthday, I got THE travel gift to end all travel gifts. Very thoughtfully, my parents gave me a vintage suitcase where inside were safety things everyone needs (first aid kit, road flare, emergency tool, and a dozen other useful gadgets). Additionally there were quotes of wisdom and witty sayings that would link the individual items to my journey through life.
I absolutely love how much thought my parents put into this gift. I’m so excited to have a first aid kit to put in my car WOO! (sorry that’s the public health nerd in me talking). This vintage suitcase alone takes the cake, It’s perfect!
I decided to name her Ruth, that’s my favorite old-fashioned name.
My plans are to leave Ruth in my family lounge area as a decorative piece. When I travel somewhere, I want to obtain a sticker of the name of the place so when I return I can put it on my suitcase. The goal is for it to look like a real old vintage suitcase from the ‘40s, I’m so excited as this would be a cool and different way to document my travels aside from photographs.
I’m so excited and can’t wait to start traveling, hopefully sometime soon!
