Above are paintings I created myself:)
I’ve always loved art classes and crafting. Always! Lately I’ve been really into paint and sip classes and I have noticed that I am developing a love for painting; so much so that I would like to make it my new hobby. I’ve been to two paint and sip places: Picasso and Wine in Reno, NV (did a blog post on that when I was still in college here) and Canvas and Cabernet in Walnut Creek, CA. What I love the most about these paint and sip classes is that they have people take you through the entire painting step by step. Being a visual learner, that makes the process of creating a beautiful painting much less stressful. When I took art in high school and college they would set up a display and would say paint that. I hated painting this way because I felt I was going in blind and could never deliver an amazing painting like I wanted.
Another reason I love paint and sip classes is because they are a great social activity. You get to be creative and paint, which can be very therapeutic after working a full week, but also an excellent way to catch up with friends. As I mentioned in my post about turning 22 here, I went to Canvas and Cabernet with some of my friends from high school that I haven’t seen in months. We all had a night that was filled with wine, art, and giggles.
Eventually I want to be able to just paint on my own. There are these things called a French easel where a painting easel is made to be easily portable. Some day once I get really good at being able to paint what I want without step by step instructions, I want to purchase a French easel so that I could go to a nice destination and paint my surroundings. Since I live in the Bay Area this would be easy since I could probably paint numerous beautiful locales in San Francisco.
I’m definitely going to continue going to Canvas and Cabernet. I just absolutely love the experience and being able to take home a fabulous painting. It is the perfect creative hobby I can do with my friends and just use to unwind from the week. They have an Addicted to Painting club at Canvas and Cabernet and I definitely think I will be needing to join that soon as I just can’t get enough of this place and painting in general!
