P.S I apologize for the iffy quality of the photo of me, the lighting in there was pretty yellow. Thanks mom for the photo!
This past Saturday I had my first art show experience, by that I mean I had my art displayed at a venue with tons of other local talented artists in San Fransisco. The show is called “Pancakes and Booze,” a traveling art show that travels all across the United States solely to put on shows to allow local artists the opportunity to have their art work displayed and get exposure while also having the opportunity to sell their work. They offer free pancakes at the event and a bar was available to grab drinks.
It was insane! There were so many people there and so many unique artists! I went in thinking I would take the night as a success if I sold one thing and… I DID! I sold a print of my favorite abstract piece, “Summer Glow.” If you don’t follow me on Instagram, cough cough I’m at allie.explores, I’ll give you a link to Summer Glow’s listing as I just added it to my shop. It’s my favorite and probably my best piece I have done so far; it’s a red, yellow, gold, and white abstract piece that has a warm feeling to it. I wanted summer in the name and Sean came up with “Summer Glow,” thanks Sean!
I also had a stack of my business cards out by my art and quite a few of those got picked up. So overall it was a successful night as I got a chance to expose my art to a community which was something I felt it needed. I also got to connect with a few local artists whose art was set up next to mine. It was nice to connect with them and talk about their process since I’m still a newbie artist.
If you are an artist, I would highly suggest to look up if “Pancakes and Booze” is coming to your area. You pay $15 a piece to have displayed and you can bring in prints for free, therefore you get to keep 100% of your earnings from your sales. This is a pretty great deal as most galleries or shows take about 30% of what you make from a sale. They have a similar show coming to San Fransisco in November called “Chocolate and Wine” so I definitely think I’ll apply. Make sure you check out my Etsy shop as I have added new pieces and prints that I displayed at “Pancakes and Booze!” Thanks for reading and I hope you had an amazing weekend. P.S. I attempted vlogging this, so keep your eyes open on Twitter for when I finally post the video on YouTube.
P.S.S. I’m starting an email newsletter next month!! More about that in Friday’s post but if you would like to join my list here is the link to sign up. Also I’m offering a free desktop background download of my Unicorn Day Dreams abstract piece to everyone who signs up! Just figured I would let you know because you’re awesome for reading this!
