Have you ever had one of those moments where inspiration just overcomes you? So much so that you just need to get your ideas on paper right then and there? This past Wednesday was International Women’s Day and I was inspired to create some illustrations around the theme. In fact, I had three ideas that I HAD to create. Two of them I drew on my lunch break in my sketch book at work and the last one I created when I got home because it needed watercolor.
I just started carrying a small sketchbook in my purse with me and I have to say I’m happy that I’m starting to do so. I find that I always get this burst of strong inspiration without any canvas to work on or material to work out my ideas. Now, I can work out those ideas at that exact moment they come. Needless to say that sketchbook will come in handy rather than just listing out the ideas on a spare piece of paper that ends up getting lost in my purse for an undisclosed period of time. Plus I want to really start strengthening my illustration skills, so it’s sort of a win-win.
I look forward to and enjoy sudden strikes of inspiration. To me, they are like a breath of fresh air that refreshes and excites me out of nowhere. It becomes all I can think about and it’s first thing I work on when I finally get a chance to reach my supplies. It creates a drive of determination like no other. These bursts of inspiration have always lead to some of my most exciting passion projects.
So, when’s the last time you felt a random burst of inspiration?
