As I’ve mentioned on the blog before, the first makeup item I ever used was concealer. I would borrow my mom’s Chanel concealer and I instantly fell in love not only with makeup but the with the entire brand. Concealer is a ride or die product for most of us, if I don’t really want to slap on a full face of makeup, I like to just dab a tiny amount of concealer to at least even out my skin a tad. With that I can say I’ve tried numbers and numbers of concealers because they are pretty much in my everyday makeup without fail, and I’ve been using concealer since middle school. So today I wanted to compare three major/popular concealers that are similar in formula and share with you which one has now become my favorite.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: I was head over heals for this concealer. The color match was perfection, the creamy formula felt amazing on the skin, and I have been using this for the last two and a half years. Once I run out, I immediately ran to Sephora to repurchase it. However, most recently when my latest tube was running out, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to repurchase it. I got bored of it and I found that it wasn’t covering up my blemishes very well. Now that being said I didn’t want them completely covered, I never like it looking like I caked makeup on, I just wanted it to make it less noticeable. I found that it wasn’t working magic anymore, so I decided to look into purchasing a different concealer, which leads me to this next concealer.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer: I wanted to love this concealer so badly. SO BAD, but I don’t, I couldn’t even finish the product. Beauty bloggers and YouTubers went nuts for this concealer, like people have labeled it their holy grail product. Which when I started to fall out of love with my NARS concealer, the hype behind this product made me want to try this one out instead. I mean the coverage is AMAZING, like the coverage is exactly what I was looking for however, the color range of this product sucks. This was the first time I’ve ever had this be an issue but there was no shade that matched my skin tone. I’m in between the shades light warm and medium light neutral. The light warm is too light and the medium light neutral is WAY too dark, like hello orange patches. This really was a bummer, I was pretty annoyed not going to lie but then I remembered my first concealer love and how its been years since I’ve used it. Maybe it was time to rekindle my romance between myself and the Chanel Correcteur Perfection. I mean I already am head over heels for most of their other makeup products, so when I was in Portland without a concealer I swatched this product and instantly I knew I had to purchase it.
Chanel Correcteur Perfection: why why WHY did I use any other concealer…. well I mean I only had a summer job in high school without a consistent income so I wasn’t even looking at the Chanel brand. But man I forgot how life changing…OK not life changing but makeup game changing this was. Literally no buyer’s remorse, the only thing I regret is not buying this concealer sooner. The formula is creamy and very similar to the NARS; so comfortable on the skin and sits on my dry skin very nicely. BUT this concealer does what it says correct with perfection.
Seriously, Chanel is slowly taking over every makeup item I use. At this point I feel like I might as well become a brand ambassador, cough cough Hi Chanel! If only! The amount of love and obsession I have with this brand speaks to my love for French brands in general since they have it covered detail/product/art wise. I would jump at the opportunity to be able to advertise it. Regardless if you are looking for your ride or die concealer, I hope my little review for these pretty popular products were helpful. The Urban Decay would be a great product if it had my shade, so definitely try it out or have someone put it on you to make sure you can find a shade match, if you can, great! I’m sure you will love it as I said the coverage is phenomenal, but it just didn’t work for me. Let me know your thoughts, if you’ve tried any of these products before, and what your experience with them was!
