I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect “your lips, but better” colored lip liner for about a month now. Why? Well let me tell you a little story:
I have really thin lips and when I smile they become almost nonexistent. On this past Valentine’s Day, Sean and I took a cooking class at Sur La Table during the day. Now I was wearing makeup except for my lips because I was planning on breaking out the red lipstick later for dinner, of course.
A couple days later I was looking through the photos of that day and noticed that my lips looked like they disappeared from my face. Not CUTE! So from then on I’ve been on a search for the perfect natural lip liner. So natural that it gives just a hint more color to the lips, but doesn’t look bizarre if I wasn’t wearing any other makeup. The true definition of “your lips, but better.” Usually I’m a fan of Mac lip liners, but they dry my lips out so much, but they are SO effective in staying put. The thing is, I couldn’t quite nail the color. I ended up buying Dervish, which was OK but then I decided to order another liner and I’m so glad I did. I finally bought the Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in the shade Pillow Talk and now that will forever be my go to!
Amelia Liana, one of my favorite beauty bloggers that makes YouTube videos, live (LIVES) by this lip liner. Honestly, I can’t even tell you how many times she has mentioned this liner. I get the hype people, I get the hype! Honestly, I’ve been wanting to buy this liner for a LONGGG time but it has been tricky to get Charlotte Tilbury’s products in the US. Thank goodness Nordstrom started selling it, but I still have to order it online.
This liner is everything I was looking for. The color is perfection and it sits on the lips comfortably. I think my one criticism it isn’t to my preferred dryness, however, the texture is more matte than cream so it will stay on your lips for a good while. For example you can drink a beverage, eat a yogurt, or snack, but if you have a sandwich or burger you will need to reapply. I mean I think that’s pretty dang good for a nondrying lip liner. That means if I’m going out for drinks with friends on the weekend I might need to reapply once depending on how long I’m out and what I consume.
With all this in mind, I highly recommend you pick up this lip liner! This is a holy grail product in my opinion; something everyone could use in their makeup stash. I think it’s decently priced for a high end brand and now I can’t imagine my everyday makeup without it. You da real MVP Pillow Talk. Let me know if you have found that lip liner of your dreams and what your perfect “your lips, but better” product, because real talk, I’m a lip product addict and I’m always open for suggestions!
