It was destiny for me to become obsessed with lipstick. My mom is a lipstick fiend, my sister has quite the lipstick collection, and now after getting hooked on watching beauty bloggers on YouTube, I too have become obsessed with lipsticks and find myself always looking to buy one. Beauty YouTubers are great for lipsticks suggestions.
I figured writing a post about my top five favorite lipsticks would be a fun and great post to write, as I know I’m not the only lipstick lover out there. It’s always fun to read and see what people’s favorite lipsticks are and to see their opinions on color, texture, and wear time. Three of the lipsticks on my favorites list are actually from one of my favorite beauty bloggers Lily Pebbles, she has great recommendations and also has an olive complexion so I know whenever a shade looks great on her I know that I need it. I really love berry dark lipstick shades, I feel like it compliments my complexion fairly well. So you can guess I’m pretty excited it’s berry lipstick season.
I have photographed all but one of the shades (Mehr) on my lips because for some reason the color was not showing up correctly, so I’m sorry about that. It is pretty similar to Inspiree, but is more of a pink tone than brown. Nevertheless, here is the moment you have all been waiting for my top five favorite lipsticks, well thus far 😉
Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Fig: This is one of my very few pink lipstick colors. It’s a lighter pink color and I’m sure you can tell from the photo that is was quite frequently used this past spring as the top started forming to the shape of my lip. What I liked the most about this lipstick is that the pink shade was subtle and the texture was a happy medium between matte and moisturizing.
MAC Mehr: The first Lily Pebbles recommended lipstick; the color is a slightly mauve nude color with a matte consistency. I really enjoy wearing this shade for a natural look with a little bit of effort. That’s what I feel is the perfect description of the shade, it is just a little something special to the typical nude shades.
CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Inspiree: This is my most recent lipstick addition and my new every day shade. It’s a browner nude shade with a slight gold undertone that I think just looks absolutely fabulous. My reasoning for why I needed to add this to my collection is because I could wear this every day to work compared to my dark berry shades and it’s so true. I loved it when I swatched it at the CHANEL counter in Nordstrom but when I first applied it the heart eyed emoji feels were on a whole new level.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Love Liberty: This is the second lipstick recommended enabled by Lily Pebbles. I actually wanted to buy this last year when Lily purchased it but Charlotte Tilbury’s matte revolution lipsticks weren’t available for in the US until recently. As soon as I saw Nordstrom stocked them I order this shade right away. Besides loving the berry wine colored shade of Love Liberty, I also love how matte and long lasting this lipstick is without making your lips absolutely parched to no end. Charlotte Tilbury’s make up in general is very high quality stuff, Lily recently purchased Bond Girl from this range and I’m thinking that I will need to purchase that soon 😉
MAC Dark Side: Last but not least is my absolute favorite shade; it is the perfect berry in my opinion. This was also a Lily Pebbles recommended purchase. It’s more of a dark red than purple, but I just think it is so flattering. It has pretty good lasting power and the name dark side is just everything. I mean any Star Wars nerd would appreciate that name, ya feel me?
I hope you have enjoyed my lengthy discussion about my top five favorite lipsticks. Let me know if I need to add any other lipsticks to my collection besides Bond Girl!
