Happy New Year everyone! Woo today is the first official day of 2016. Even though my anti-bucket list post published on Monday showed you a bit of my 2015, I decided to reflect a little bit more on the year and share with you the goals I have for 2016. The year of 2015 was a major transition for me and I had no idea how great but also challenging, frustrating, and upsetting it would be. Despite these negatives, it genuinely was more good than bad and I achieved a lot in this year alone. One of the things I accomplished was that I started this little old blog and have learned a lot with just six months of regularly/consistently blogging.
This year while working on my blog I discovered this thing called twitter chats where other bloggers meet and chat about blogging topics while sharing helpful advice. I have learned so much and love the twitter chat community I participate in every Monday called #CreativeCoffeeHour. I’ve met some great people there who have pushed me to make my blog what it is and helped me learn. Shout outs to Melissa at MKKM Designs, Callie at Callie Creates, Christina with The Social Butterfly, and Emily Scott for always being so encouraging and helping me learn so much! You guys rock. And of course I have to thank my mom for being my biggest blog fan and my boyfriend of course for being my editor and pushing me to finally create my blog. In one chat at the beginning of the month we were discussing goal planning for the new year and had to pick one word we wanted to define 2016 and I chose Evolve. Evolve is exactly what I want my 2016 to be in all aspects of my life not just my blog. I want to learn and absorb everything that I want to pursue art wise, adult-life wise, and blogging wise. I also want to have more adventures and take advantage of the fact I live so close to San Francisco.
Some specific goals I have for the year:
-I want to grow and make my blog everything I hope it to be and a blog people enjoy reading.
-I want to be more comfortable in front of the camera so I can take nice photos for my blog posts. I got a new camera for Christmas so I’m definitely planning on stepping up my photo game in all aspects.
-I want to start making YouTube videos. I think I’ll start with a vlog in March since I plan on visiting my sister in Portland. Honestly I think I would enjoy that more than blogging just because I am a huge movie fanatic and never have been huge into reading. I think it would be another hobby I would really enjoy learning to do. Don’t get me wrong I like really like blogging because it is short and sweet and I enjoy sharing my ideas.
-I hope to make time to really enjoy as many creative hobbies as I want to but at the same time I want to make it manageable so I actually do it and not just say that is something “I want to do.” More specifically painting and calligraphy; my boyfriend got me a book to learn calligraphy for Christmas so needless to say I’m excited to start that!
-Narrow my brand of my blog, right now I’m lifestyle, which has turned into Allie writes about whatever pops into her head that weekend. I mean I enjoy that, my brand is my random self but other bloggers keep stressing finding your niche and brand. I think I need to explore why that is important… just maybe (humor if you didn’t pick that up *wink*)
-Adventure more. Because I want to see everywhere and everything. Small trip to Portland is happening and I’m hoping to plan another bigger trip
More than anything I just want to learn and evolve as I continue to transition into adult life post grad. There’s so much more to learn and explore not just in my hobbies but in work and life in general. I’m excited as I’m already starting to create travel plans/ideas for the years, goals with a month deadline, hobbies that I really want to invest time in, and for my boyfriend and I to finally move into our own place. I’m so excited to see how 2016 is going to turn out, I have a feeling it will be a great one. What are some of your exciting plans for 2016?
