This last Friday I turned 22, I managed to resist my Instagram caption referencing Taylor Swift’s song 22, but I figured it was a necessity to make it this post’s title. Twenty-one was definitely a good year for me filled with a lot of change and great memories. Well for one, I got to experience the Reno downtown nightlife for my final year of college. That made senior year so much more fun as there were now new numerous activities I could do from the wine walk to beer/pub crawls to just trying out new bars. The zombie crawl was by far one of my favorite memories, probably because I just absolutely love Halloween and zombies. I mean the Walking Dead is one of my favorite TV shows… heavily resisting making this post about that show now. Finally the time came and I graduated college, starting a full-time job and officially becoming a real adult. Trust me, I don’t like it either, it’s been a difficult transition to say the least (ok well not that difficult I just need to work on my attention span skills). I decided to share some photos of my favorite memories from being 21, here ya go! (p.s this is a picture heavy post)
I’m hoping that the year of 22 brings just a much fun if not more as I’m sure it will be filled with change since it’s still freshly in the post-grad timeline. 2015 alone has already brought a lot of change and there’s still half of the year left. I started to reflect on turning 22 and how I felt. I noticed that there are just a few things that I want to accomplish before I turn 23 that I feel are manageable.
-Finally go to Europe (hopefully)
-live life to the fullest, make the most of every day
As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a strong urge and desire to travel and have not been anywhere out of North America. To be precise, I’ve only been to the United States and Mexico. I’m hoping that with this coming year, not only can I travel more often, but possibly to make it to Europe. Here’s to hoping and now time to start saving… The second thing I really got inspired to do once I moved back to the Bay Area. I realized that while living here my whole life (pre-college), I never took advantage of the fact that so many great and interesting cities were so close to where I live. That is going to change this year, I want to experience mini-adventures in the bay and really make the most of the fact that I’m living here. I think that this will be a great way to make up for coming back home and I plan on working on that this year.
Back to the present!
To celebrate my birthday I went to a nice dinner with my family on Friday, I went to Canvas and Cabernet with some friends from high school, and we had a family BBQ today. I didn’t expect to have such an amazing birthday weekend. Each day I felt showered with love. I was so happy and excited to go to Canvas and Cabernet with my friends (Canvas and Cabernet is basically the same as Picasso and Wine, I did a blog post about here if you want to check it out). I think the main reason I was so excited is because we painted an elephant and I love elephants! I had an amazing time with my friends; it was a while since I’ve been able to hangout with them. It was great being reunited, catching up, and just having a night filled with silliness and giggling. Overall I had a lovely time spending time with my family and friends celebrating another year. Being able to spend some time with my family and friends made me realize how much I cherish the times we are able to spend together and fuels me to make this happen more often throughout the next year.
