One of my favorite things I got this past Christmas was a new Nikon digital camera from my parents. I was stoked as this meant I could up my photography skills to add a better quality of photos shown on my blog and eventually dabble in making YouTube videos, which is something I’ve been wanting to start for a while. (Which by the way I think I will start in March with vlogging my trip to Portland eekkk).
Now you may know that during this past month I really dove into painting in my free time and haven’t used my camera as much as I would have liked. However, all the photos on the blog this month were taken with it…so that’s a start. This post is mainly a progress update where I share some photos I took this past month just and to sort of experiment and get a hang of the basic features of this camera. I’m wondering if I should take a class to really learn how to use it or if I should just YouTube it, I’m leaning towards finding a YouTube video because one: it saves me money and two: YouTube has some great how to videos out there.
I think within this next month I’ll make time to explore and learn how to capture amazing photos with my new camera. I honestly think that the main reason I haven’t used this camera that much this month is because I didn’t do a whole lot in the month of January. I mean I painted a lot, but I mainly stayed home enjoying time with my boyfriend and family. I’m excited for my Portland trip not only to vlog, but I’ll most likely be able to capture some great photos detailing our experience and adventure we embark on. I think once I get over the barrier of “you have to do something cool/adventurous to take photos” and realize I can capture the highlights of every day, I will start to use my camera more often. So hang in there while I slowly take my time in learning how to become a photography master. If you have any videos or blogs you recommend that go over the basics I would love to hear about them. I hope you had a great weekend and a great January overall, let me know if you are moving slow to embrace a new hobby or improve a certain skill in the comments!
